The Connection

Article in The Weekly Standard citing evidence that there were extensive ties between Saddam Hussein and Usama bin Laden, including some evidence of involvement in 9/11 by Saddam.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Jimmy, I have always thought the Iraq war was a Just War to begin with. The book, which I will buy ASAP, just crosses the i’s and dots the t’s for me. Linking Osama and Saddam makes the war in Iraq a continuation of what we started in Afghanistan in my opinion. I believe even the Holy Father, who always seems to want to go with a no-war stance and I can understand that, supported or understood our war in Afganistan as appropriate given 9/11. If I am wrong on that, I am certainly willing to be corrected though.
