Interesting analysis of the chances of The Passion of the Christ and Fahrenheit 9/11 at the Oscars this year.

Flashbacks:

* Matt Abbott interviews Mel Gibson’s brother

* Me on the two films

* Me on The Passion (my first blog post!)

If TPOTC is not at least considered for and/or F911 wins best picture then the Academy Awards come that much closer to going the way of the Nobel Peace Prize. Which is, in my opinion, a farcical platform from which to peddle one's political ideology rather than an honest recognition of accomplishment in the field of cinema or peace.

Just one comment to make at this time:
If Kerry takes the White House, F 9/11 wins Best Picture.
You can take that to the bank.
And for that reason alone, I want Kerry defeated. I don't want to live in a world with Michael Moore's ego if Kerry takes the White House.

Interesting story. It actually talkes about Hollywood's "Jewish roots."
What is the point in bringing up Mel's father?
I do find it interesting that the entire Catholic establishment praised Gibson over this. Yet Gibson is a traditionalist catholics and most of the catholic establishment generally sneers at anyone who thinks the pope is less than 100% right.
