Hog Kong Killed In Florida

Hog_kongA Florida hog hunter downed a 1,140 lb. wild hog last August.

This hog, dubbed "Hog Kong," was larger than the behemoth "Hogzilla" killed in Georgia.

The hunter, Larry Earley, downed the beast with a .44 magnum.

He later said: "I didn’t realize he was that big or I would have gotten a different gun."

No, duh!

He’s lucky to have brought down a 1,140-lb. hog with a handgun of any caliber!

Hog Kong has inspired a number of tall tales on the Internet, but

IN THIS STORY EARLEY SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED.

DAILY PLANET — Just before being shot by Earley, Hog Kong was distracted by a beautiful woman resembling Faye Ray, leading one local rustic to remark, "Shazam! T’was beauty kilt the beast!"

In a related development, Toho Studios announce a porcine remake of its classic monsterbash King Kong vs. Godzilla as Hog Kong vs. Hogzilla. Plans are for the film to have two endings. The first, to be shown in Georgia, will have Hogzilla win the climactic battle, while the second, to be shown in Florida, will have Hog Kong as the victor.

woah he's huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dropped a 275-300 pound wild boar in Tennessee yesterday with a Marlin 1894SS lever gun in 44 Remington Magnum from 60-70 yards (westra.com/hog). Gun-guys love to debate whether they need a RPG, M1A1 Abrams tank or thermonuclear device to kill this animal or that. A friend of mine killed a fairly large deer with a 22 long rifle bullet that pierced the animal’s heart. A property placed shot is what kills.

I'd say that, but then someone would accuse me of being a ham. ;-)

Looks like he's had a couple chupacabra too many...
Intersesting photo.
What do you call that machine? ...a pork-lift?

A friend once went hunting wild boar up near Spokane WA with a Desert Eagle .50.
He got a 990 lb one. It took two shots though, the first one just made the boar angry!
Good pork chops though :)

There is an old story about Al Capone I believe taking down a deer with a handgun in northern Wisconsin. Up North for midwesterners.

Hunting wild boar with a handgun. As we say in these parts, admiringly: "That boy's crazy."
Well, I guess a .44 Mag's a good choice if you're going to handgun it, but...
I wouldn't come near (read: within 50 yards of) a boar with anything less than an aught six or, even better, a Winchester .458, though some folks claim a .30-30 will suffice.
I tip my hat to Larry Earley.
