Never Thought I’d Say This, But . . .

. . . GO ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY ROWAN WILLIAMS!

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. That was very interesting. (gotta love a guy with a beard like his). At Mass on Sunday, copies of a letter from the Bishops’ Conference to Catholics in England and Wales was made available for us to take home, it was regarding the General Election and written by Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor and Archbishop Patrick Kelly.
    Areas it highlighted for our consideration being
    Marriage and the Family
    Respect for Life
    Criminal Justice
    Education
    The Global Common Good
    Refugees and Migrants
    It concluded with a posed question for our reflection and consideration;
    “How, in the light of the Gospel, can my vote best serve the common good?”
    It is my belief that such areas on moral issues are hotly avoided by all mainstream poilitical parties on the run up to election. Education and Refugeess and Migrants will figure, but sadly, it is a matter for the private individual to seek out the policies (which are often buried) on such issues as abortion and euthanasia.
    It’s sad that we have to spend hours researching the information that is crucial to swaying our x in the box. It’s sad that no one wants to make a pro life stand with any gumption.
    God Bless.
