I guess it was more the pope talking about what inspired him to write the encyclical, even though he didn't mention Dante in it.

So now that I finished reading it, not a word about Dante. What was up with that prediction?

Just finished reading it. Excellent stuff. the first part is heavy into the philosophical ideas of love, and the second part really defines the proper exercise of charity at both the personal and state level.
Marxists will not like this one..
