Reason #1957346 to get yourself a post office box:

If you live on one of the streets below, named among the wackiest street names in the United States, no one who mails you letters will know.  (If you know of a wacky street name in your area that did not place in the contest, feel free to add it to the combox.)

The runners-up, in descending order from tenth-place to second-place in the contest:

  • Tater Peeler Road in Lebanon, Tenn.
  • The intersection of Count and Basie in Richmond, Va.
  • Shades of Death Road in Warren County, N.J.
  • Unexpected Road in Buena, N.J.
  • Bucket of Blood Street in Holbrook, Ariz.
  • The intersection of Clinton and Fidelity in Houston
  • The intersection of Lonesome and Hardup in Albany, Ga.
  • Farfrompoopen Road in Tennessee (the only road up to Constipation Ridge)
  • Divorce Court in Heather Highlands, Pa.

And the winner for the wackiest street name was…

**DRUM ROLL**

  • Psycho Path in Traverse City, Mich.

GET THE STORY.

Living on Psycho Path might be a lot of fun on Halloween, but I’d hate to live there year-round.

In Orange County, Calif., there are
Thisa Way
and
Thata Way

Pizz Pore Road, Blakely, Georgia

And, right here in San Diego county, we have:
My Way (City of San Diego)
Tuther Way (City of San Diego)
Caminito Oi Vey (City of San Diego)
Good Karma Lane (People's Republic of Vista)
Passing Lane (up the road from Ramona)

A lake near Webster, Wis., is named Boner (pronounced Bonner). The road signs kept getting stolen. The new sign reads: Bonner Lake Road.

Someone mentioned Fertile, MN. A nearby town is northwestern Minnesota is named Climax.

AP's Los Angeles office made the error of placing Farfrompoopen Road in Tennessee rather than in Arkansas in reporting the story. Now if you Google Farfrompoopen Road, there about about 80,000 entries. I did not look at all of them, but a lot of them that I saw perpetuated the error.
If you look at Mitsubishi's Web site, you will see that Farfrompoopen Road, which came in third, is in Story, Ark. On second thought, it's too bad it did not come in No. 2.

My favorites:
Electric Avenue - Thurmont, MD
New Design Road - Frederick, MD
Nike Lane - Waldorf, MD (not the shoe, a former anti-ICBM site)

...and please show up this monday at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, in Annapolis this Monday for the March for Life:

I have a brother-in-law who lives on "Easy St." in Winder, GA.
There's an Easy St. in Orlando as well, but it's near the downtown area in "da hood".
Ironic, don'tcha think...?

IIRC: Compromise Street runs between Church circle and State circle in Annapolis. If you walk up Newman Street you walk right into the front door of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.

In Seabeck Washington we have a 4wheel Drive. And in Bremerton we have a NE 3rd Street North. I know that last one isn't imaginative, just stupid.

Gee, Big Beaver Road (Troy, MI) didn't even make it? There's also Puttygut Road in St. Clair County.

Oh, and any Harry Potter fans in Pittsburgh could meet up at the intersection of Oliver and Wood....

West Chester Township, Ohio, has the intersection of Grinn and Barrett.

The beautiful St. Paul's Church in Cambridge, MA, right on the edge of the Harvard Campus, is at the corner of Bow and Arrow...

The Oakland section of Pittsburgh has a Hamlet Street and an Ophelia Street, as well as Tennyson Avenue and Ruskin Avenue.
In various parts of the Pittsburgh area, I have spotted:
Christian Way
Rosary Way
Pius Street
St. Patrick Street
and, next to an old Lutheran church:
Melanchthon Avenue.

One of the major streets in Sacramento CA is called Greenback Ln.
The story goes that a candidate for Mayor promised a rich donor a paved street to his house in return for campaign funds. When it was completed, the city council gave it the name so the story would get out.

Gene, yes it's the side street between the church and the National Guard armory.

Arthur, I live in Reno & did not know about Bowling Alley! Very cool. I'll have to check it out next time I go to Little Flower.

I have a brother-in-law who lives on "Easy St." in Winder, GA.

There's a "Yellow Snow Road" in Fairbanks, Alaska.

How about "Johnny Cake Road" in Apple Valley, MN or "Yankee Doodle rd" in Egan, Mn. While we are at it what about Hell, Wisconsin or Fertile, MN?

Oops. It's "Alley". That'll teach me to blog before I have my morning coffee.
I should also clarify that the parish is officially called St. Therese of Lisieux, but everyone in town refers to it as Little Flower.
--arthur

Here in Reno the street behind Little Flower Catholic Church was named after its (now deceased) pastor Fr. Robert Bowling.
And yes, they called Bowling Aleey!

I always liked Upper Bottom Rd in St. Louis. And I'm glad not to live on Avenida de los Arboles in Rancho Santa Margurita CA. Try filling out the bubbles on your SAT with that one.

My grandmother lives on Lover's Lane in Vermont.

There's an Avenue Road in Toronto. I have no idea why.
Rhett, the ``Clinton'' in Brooklyn was probably named after a nineteenth-century governor, DeWitt Clinton.

Metropolis, Illinois has a street named Lois Lane.

There's the intersection of Clinton and Bush in Brooklyn that always makes me smile when I pass through. I can't imagine who that could be in real life though.

In a neighboring town, I recently drove through the intersection of "Crouch and P".
"Suits Us" drive is another local favorite.

I live right near Psycho Path! It's just a small street that someone got to name I guess. In no way does that street represent our town:) Traverse City is very cute and friendly!

And no, most of the residents are not very short people with strange voices(a few, maybe).

How 'bout Yellow Brick Road, in Fort Salonga, NY?
(No, it's paved with asphalt, like most other roads)
