Fr. Stephanos Smells A Conspiracy

And it’s not just any conspiracy!

It’s a conspiracy involving The Da Vinci Code (dum! dum! dum!)!

FIND OUT WHAT HE SUSPECTS!

And what you can do about it!

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

1. Thanks for the heads up.
I have “The Compendium” on my shelf and is “on deck” after I finish the two books I am currently reading.
t.i.m.

2. Oh fer cryin’ out loud! Here I am trying to get people to pull their heads out of the sand (It’s just fiction!), and all you offer is the Compendium. Most of these people could care less (more’s the pity!). Still, I appreciate the link to his blog.

3. Well done Fr. Stephanos. Following th L.A. Times article on the kneeling controversy, I think that there should be a prize awarded for the Catholic story with the most tenuous link to the “Da Vinci Code”.

4. I still need to pick up the Compendium. I’ve been hearing great things.

5. The real cover-up is the fact that the Vatican doesn’t have an English translation of the Compendium on their website.
I see French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovenian, and Spanish.
The English version is published by the USCCB. I wonder if they are concerned about losing out on some royalties if a web version is made available.
It took me a month to get my copy from Amazon and it is fabulous. Every Catholic should have it.

6. I think the real conspiracy is between Fr. Stephanos, Jimmy Akin to get us to visit Fr. Stephanos’ (new and improved I think?) blog. Oooh, a big conspiracy! And it’s just about the Compendium coming out?
Maybe we should punish Jimmy by all reading Fr. Stephanos’ blog tomorrow instead of his!
(or maybe the day after tommorrow. I’m hoping Jimmy has picked up on FEMA’s big retreat from Camp Algiers and post something on that, in place of one of these redundant immigration things. Should’ve emailed him about it.)

7. The NSA has receipt of Jimmy’s plans and The Black Pope and his Jesuit Brigade will be quickly moving to counter any conspiracy!!!

8. “No one who reads this is practicing custody of the eyes”
Ha! Fr. Stephanos I like the new and improved look and I purchased my copy of the C4 to combat the conspiracy.
Take care and God bless,
Inocencio

9. If you want to get the Compendium sooner than in a month, forget Amazon and go to your local Catholic bookstore. If they don’t have it on the shelf, you’ll get it within a week.

10. I picked up the Compendium about a month ago, and I think it’s the greatest resource for simply and clearly presenting the truths of the Catholic faith. I’ve even used it in preparing a couple of my reflections.

11. Yes, Jimmy and I conspired, so to speak.
I mentioned to him that I wanted to send an APB to all Catholic bloggers that we should call attention back to the “Compendium” since its publication got obscured by all the attention that Catholic and non-Catholic bloggers and the media gave to “The Da Vinci Code.” Jimmy told me to blog about it and he would call attention to it.
So, if you have a blog, why don’t you use it to call attention back to the “Compendium”? We all have the duty to evangelize and catechize. Do your part!
One of the Spiritual Works of Mercy is “to instruct the ignorant”. There are far too many Catholics out there who have far too little knowledge of the Faith.

12. The Compendium has also started showing up in mainstream bookstores. We have four copies at the Barnes & Noble I work at.
