A *Very* Special Request

I have a request that I'd like to ask of our blog readers.

Someone *very* close to me (not me, but someone *very* close) currently needs prayers.

I don't feel that the person would want me to discuss details in public, but this is a very close family member who is currently in Intensive Care.

It is *very* serious.

Depending on when you read this, cross-time prayers may be appropriate.

Remember, God can do anything.

Also: I'm a convert, so none of my family has the consolations of being Catholic.

*Please* pray.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Prayers said, and I will remember your relative (grandma?) on Mass later today.

  2. My prayers are always with you, but especially today I will pray for the health of your loved one, for you and your whole family.
(P.S. – Call anytime of the day or night if there is anything I can do. It will be my privilege to walk over hot coals to get it done).

  3. Praying… and will remember you and yours at today’s Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

  4. I’m a day late and a dollar short, but I will include this intention when I pray my Rosary tonight.

  5. Jimmy, on this Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception of Mary, I will ask our Holy Mother’s special intercession for this person who is in great need of help. My prayers are with you and this person.

  6. Praise be to God. I am also a convert, 17 years now. Love the emergency prayer taught by Mother Teresa: 9 Memmorare’s to our Lady in the case of an emergency or a sudden need to pray. Will do for your intention Jimmy. God Bless you and yours. In His Holy name, Jan

  7. Does this have anything to do with that airplane that crashed in San Diego? Was someone in your family amongst the injured? Was anyone from Catholic Answers involved?

  8. Will pray and also offer up the (very minor!) personal suffering with which God has blessed me today for your intention. God bless you, and may He bless the person in your intention with healing, consolation and peace.
