Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. It’s from earlier in October, but the apostolic letter Porta Fidei, announcing the upcoming “Year of Faith,” shouldn’t be overlooked.

  2. By the way, Jimmy, this is awesome. Thanks for taking the time from your busy schedule to put this together.

  3. the ‘weekly Benedict’ is a great idea! I’ve been wondering how to find out about what’s going on with our new bishop here in the Los Angeles archdiocese but don’t know where to look. Does anyone have suggestions? We used to get the arch. newspaper, but it was awful so we stopped. It might be better now? thanks. <3

  4. Sorry – somehow, my original comment posting was not, um.. posted.
Saw this and I wanted to see if you could lend some clarity to it:

Could you please explain that this is not an endorsement of socialism? Many will be confused by the way members of the press (from the left and the right) are interpreting this.
I’m thinking our German Shepherd needs to shepherd his fellow bishops and wring their necks of this twisted thinking.
