Blog Operations Note

Lately I’ve been fielding a bunch of canon law questions. I want to make sure that–to the best of my ability–I answer the questions folks are interested in, but it’s struck me that we haven’t had many biblical questions lately, and I’d like to increase the ratio of them that I’m doing, if possible. I’m therefore inviting biblical questions in particular at the time.

If you have one, feel free to e-mail.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Do they have to be questions strictly of a biblical nature or can they be tangential questions such as inquiries relating to the canon of scripture?

  2. I’ve got one. Mainly out of curiosity, where does the RCC stand on the days of creation?.
Are you “young earth”- or “old earth”?.
Or maybe there are two schools of thought on this issue?.

Actually, Jimmy has written about at least five schools of thought on interpreting Genesis 1.

  4. Hi Jimmy, I sent you a question via email about women keeping silent and not having authority over men from
1 Timothy – can’t wait to read your reply!

  5. I’ve got one. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could read 1 Timothy 3:15?

  6. I had purchased salvation controversy about a year ago and never really read it due too it not coinciding with my NAB version. therefore ,what type of bible do you use?

  7. You might want to go with the RSV-CE (revised standard version, Catholic edition), which I am assuming Jimmy might be using in his book.
