Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. You know, Elrond never thought Aragorn would make it either. But I wouldn’t vote for Frodo. After all, Frodo would never had made it far without Sam, would he?

  2. I got a good, solid laugh out of that one.
That’s one MORE great incentive for pitching the television… no more political ads.

  3. LOL. I agree about the Scottish accent.
Well, at least it’s not a choice between Saruman or Sauron this year.

  4. so, Tim, have you pitched the TV yet? My bil’s dad actually threw it out the window from the 2nd storey when he was a kid. His dad had asked him too many times to do some chore or other.

  5. Can I share another piece of humor too?
I once read that the phrase ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’ can apply to elections. You should choose the ‘Good’ and reject the ‘Bad’. In case there are no ‘Good’ candidates, just choose someone who isn’t ‘Ugly’ so at least your disgust to that candidate can lessen, even if for a bit.

  6. For those of us who can’t view things like this, is it possible to give a brief synopsis?

  7. Anon,
It was a recent post on theonring.net.
Or you might try going to youtube to view it.

  8. Wish I had seen this yesterday. I would have done a write-in vote. Too late now. I suppose we just need to start pushing Frodo for President! (As long as Sam is VP.)
